San Diego Asian Film Festival 2008

A group of fanatical eco-terrorists have decided to unleash a biological weapon on the planet. When the virus wipes out an entire village in Thailand the authorities call upon L (Kenichi Matsuyama), the greatest detective in the world, to save humanity. Assisting him are two young children, a young boy who was the only survivor of the Thai village attack and the daughter of the creator of the virus antidote. Of course, L’s always reliable partner Watari is available as always to provide able support.

A spinoff of the wildly popular “Death Note” series of manga (Japanese comics), anime TV show and live action films, director Hideo Nakata (RING) takes L, the quirky, sweet-toothed, slightly goth hero of “Death Note” and places him in a position where he must save the world. A huge box office success in Japan, this film has clearly established Kenichi Matsuyama as a superstar and matinee idol. L: CHANGE THE WORLD is fun for everyone and definitely required viewing for fans of the “Death Note” franchise.
