BOMBAY SUMMER explores the fleeting and delicate friendship between three young people in the face of betrayal and personal loss. Set in contemporary India, the film subtly mirrors the turmoil within tradition bound Indian society as it copes with change and rapid modernization.
At the center of the story is Geeta, a young woman who leads a full life and a busy career. She is also adept at balancing the conflicting needs of family and life in modern India. But today, new experiences are open to her and she grabs them with relish, such as dating a struggling writer named Jaidev who is unsure about the choices he is making.
Their lives take a dramatic turn when they befriend a young migrant named Madan, another struggling artist with a very different background. BOMBAY SUMMER is an intimate and contemplative film that follows the journey of these three friends’ self discovery over the course of one summer.
Director Joseph Mathew scheduled to attend.
