Ly Tieu Long (Vietnamese for "Bruce Lee") is a mentally challenged martial artist. Inflicted by Agent Orange, baby Long is abandoned on the doorstep of the village temple by his mother shortly after birth out of shame, regret, and the inability to raise the sick child.
He is taken in by Ba Lan, a martial arts master who runs a small school teaching local children the Binh Dinh style of Vietnamese martial arts. Believing she could motivate Long towards good deeds, she tells him that Bruce Lee is his father, a white lie that resonates with the easily impressionable boy. Too slow to participate with the other children, Long receives his training in solitude. She teaches him only to use his martial arts skills to protect and help those in need. Though Long is laughed at and picked on throughout his childhood, he vows to uphold his adopted mother’s teachings. Her love and devotion is soon rewarded when Long becomes proficient in Binh Dinh martial arts.
She dies, Long is left alone and confused. He decides to try and find a way to bring his mother’s ashes to America to rest with his father, Bruce Lee.
Along the way, Long meets a girl named Trinh, a sweet but jaded young runaway. When Trinh finds out her internet boyfriend is the big boss in a human trafficking ring, Trinh turns to Long for help. Unfortunately for Trinh, Long has vowed to his mother never to use his martial arts skills to fight. When trouble mounts and the bad guys pile it on, however, Long finally snaps, ultimately breaking his vow to his mother in order to rescue Trinh from the life of servitude.
Lead actor Dustin Nguyen scheduled to attend.
