World Premiere

In this sexy new romantic comedy from director Quentin Lee (Shopping for Fangs), we follow the story of Angela Yang (Karin Anna Cheung), a young woman who loves sex. She in fact loves it so much that she keeps baseball card-like photos of her lovers to keep track of who she has been with. Angela never thinks twice about her promiscuous lifestyle until she finds out that she is pregnant. Her gay best friend Gabriel (Wilson Cruz) advises her to "take care of it", but her conservative older sister Juliet (Lynn Chen) persuades Angela to marry the baby's father and lead a "normal" life just like her. After choosing to keep the baby, Angela embarks on a quest to find the identity of the father. Armed with only her conquest photos, Angela revisits the recent lovers most likely to have impregnated her: 5-Second-Guy, Mystery Man, Nice-But-Boring-Guy, Mr. Hottie and BFF. To complicate matters during her search, Angela falls in love with Jefferson Lee aka Mystery Man (Archie Kao), a handsome and kind man who seems almost too good to be true. Will Angela and Jefferson find true love and live happily ever after, or will she find that the father is another man?

Karin Anna Cheung (Better Luck Tomorrow) is appealing in the lead role as Angela, an independent but confused young woman trying to balance what she truly wants from life with what she thinks is the right thing to do. The talented supporting cast, which also includes Asian American acting legend James Shigeta (Flower Drum Song) as Angela's liberal father and the always hilarious Randall Park (“Dragon of Love”) as Nice-But-Boring Guy, adds considerable charm to this sultry yet humorous story. Director Quentin Lee mixes indie edginess with romantic comedy sweetness in a way that will challenge while still entertaining. The film also breaks new ground by exploring love and marriage Asian American style from the modern female perspective, leaving few stereotypes or social mores unexplored. THE PEOPLE I'VE SLEPT WITH will be making its co-World premiere at the 2009 San Diego Asian Film Festival. – Gene Huh
